FEATURES:

1854cc, air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 4 valves per cylinder, 48°, V-twin powerplant produces massive torque and class leading acceleration.

Traditional pushrod valve actuation keeps engine height down for a lower centre of gravity and ensures more uniform heat dissipation due to absence of a cam chain case. A lower centre of gravity helps to insure light, easy handling.

Four-valve cylinder heads provide optimal breathing efficiency for great power delivery at all rpms. The two spark plugs per cylinder means faster, more complete combustion for maximum power output.

Cylinder head design utilizes a pent roof combustion chamber design and features a oil passage near the exhaust valve seat to improve cooling and durability. The new heads also feature engine mounting points on each side of the head for increased chassis rigidity for exceptional handling.

Large size valves increase engine horsepower and torque. The intake valves are 36mm in diameter (Warrior intakes valves = 34mm) while the exhaust valves are 31mm ( Warrior exhaust valves = 28mm).

Specially designed valve train includes short design intake and exhaust rocker arms that reduce inertia during high-rpm use.

High performance spec twin, crankcase-mounted, high-lift cams ensure strong torque and class leading acceleration.

Mechanical centrifugal decompression mechanism located in each of the exhaust camshafts insures fast, easy starts. This system is contained inside the camshafts and reduces weight and complexity since no solenoid etc. is required.

Hydraulic valve lifters driven by the twin camshafts deliver exceptional performance and significantly reduce maintenance and tune-up requirements.

Large-diameter pistons are both durable and lightweight. Yamaha’s exclusive “controlled forged construction” keeps the pistons light for faster response and to accommodate higher-rpm performance with reduced vibration and less reciprocating mass. The pistons feature an Alumite coating to reduce friction.

The dry sump oil lubrication system has been optimized to ensure maximum lubrication and cooling . Special oil nozzles direct oil at the bottom of the pistons to cool and lubricate them.

Special “dual chamber” crankcase design. The front section is for the crank assembly while the rear is for the transmission. Two, 3-rotor high capacity oil pumps optimizes oil flow in each of the two main sections of the engine.

Huge 100mm bore ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation, reduce weight, reduce friction and increase cylinder service life.

Cooling fin thickness and depth is optimized for maximum heat dissipation, thereby eliminating the need for liquid cooling, while maintaining that traditional, stylish air-cooled engine appearance.

Optimized “damper-less” crankshaft allows the rider to feel the directness of the engine’s power. For each rotation of the rear wheel, in 5th gear, the crank spins 3.14 times providing an outstanding rear wheel driving force feeling to the rider.

Compact design dual balancers reduce vibration for exceptional rider and passenger comfort. The balancers are positioned on either end of the crankshaft to vibration.

3-axis crankcase layout means the crankshaft, main axle and drive shaft are specially arranged to minimize the size of the engine cases and centralize mass.

43mm, twin-bore, downdraft throttle body fuel injection (FI) with throttle position sensor (TPS) ensures great throttle response and maximum power throughout the rev range. This system is a “closed loop” system since it utilizes an oxygen sensor in the exhaust to monitor the concentration of oxygen and adjust the FI system if necessary. The benefits of fuel injection include chokeless operation, increased fuel economy, instant throttle response and reduced emissions.

The 12-hole, 2-directional Mikuni fuel injectors produce a wide spray pattern for complete cylinder filling. This special spray pattern combined with the dual spark plug heads to ensure complete combustion for maximum power. A Idle Speed Control (ISC) has been adopted to ensure stable idling performance.

High capacity electronic fuel pump is located in the sub tank under the seat.

State-of-the-art Electronic Control Unit (ECU) ensures precisely metered fuel delivery and optimal ignition spark control using 3D transistorized coil ignition mapping for each cylinder.

3.5 liter dual inlet air filter box is located under the tank. There are intake ducts at the front and rear of the air box for maximum breathing efficiency. This design not only maximizes air flow but also reduces weight. A viscous paper type air filter is used. The side mounted air filter common on the Road Star series has been eliminated giving a cleaner look at the engine’s cylinders on the right side.

Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen at the exhaust port to insure complete combustion thereby reducing harmful exhaust emissions (HC & CO) while a special air cut valve reduces backfiring when decelerating or coasting off throttle.

High-performance, 2-into-1-exhaust system features large size header pipes for maximum flow. The single muffler contains a 3-way honey comb matrix catalyizer to reduce harmful exhaust emissions. The stylish muffler helps to boost torque and horsepower while producing a throaty, V-twin growl.

The exhaust system also features a lightweight titanium EXUP exhaust power valve most commonly found on high performance sport bikes. The EXUP system not only provides crisp throttle response and eliminates ‘flat spots” but also improves acceleration and reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions.

Dry sump lubrication system means a more compact engine design since the oil tank is not part of the engine, which lowers the centre of gravity for great handling and a light feel. A handy, spin-on oil filter means fast, easy oil changes.

Frame mounted oil cooler is a first on a Yamaha cruiser. The cooler maintains consistent oil temperatures for optimum cooling and lubrication of this massive V-twin powerplant.

Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission features new optimized gear ratios for strong acceleration and relaxed cruising at highway speeds.

2-piece heel-and-toe shifter adds versatility and enhances the overall cruising experience. The 2-piece design allows the rider to individually adjust front and rear portions to suit foot size or remove the rear section if not desired.

Heavy duty 10 plate clutch is designed compliment engine power characteristics. This new clutch is operated by an all new hydraulic master cylinder instead of a cable. The hydraulic clutch design is low maintenance, self adjusting and very stylish.

Low-maintenance belt drive system not only significantly reduce maintenance but is also clean and quiet. A belt drive system uses less power than a shaft drive and reduces unsprung weight for great rear suspension performance.

Aluminum, die cast, double-cradle frame reduces weight, while balancing strength and rigidity. The critical head pipe area features box type construction for additional strength. The frame not provides excellent handling characteristics but also compliments the beautiful flowing lines of the rest of the chassis and bodywork. The engine is rigidly mounted in the frame.

Lightweight C.F. die cast aluminum swingarm offers superb rigidity and ensures excellent stability and handling. The C.F. die casting process allows for beautiful shapes that are both strong and light. This new swingarm is a fashion statement in aluminum and compliments the rest of the Stratoliner’s eye catching styling.

Rigid 46mm front fork offers 130mm (5.1″) of wheel travel for exceptionally stable handling and great ride comfort. The fork features “slash cut” large diameter chromed fork shrouds to enhance the “neo- streamliner” styling.

Beefy, cast aluminum, top and bottom triple clamps help increase fork rigidity and reduce weight.

Link rear suspension features a spring preload adjustable single rear shock delivering outstanding ride comfort and precise handling. The shock is horizontally positioned under the engine for a lower center of gravity and is hidden to provide that classic “hardtail” look. Rear wheel travel is 110mm (4.3″).

Powerful dual 298mm floating front discs are squeezed by ultra rigid, 4-piston, monoblock calipers provide sport-bike spec stopping power. Providing exceptional stopping power, these brakes also provide great lever feel and feedback.

Huge 320mm rear disc is squeezed by a single piston caliper mounted below the swingarm for a lower center of gravity and that customized “hidden look”.

Lightweight polished 12 spoke cast aluminum mag wheels reduce weight and enhance handling and styling. The front wheel is MT 4.00×18 while the rear wheel is a MT 5.50×17. Both are fitted with tubeless radial tires that provide excellent traction and reduced rolling resistance.

Two-piece seat design features a wide, flat profile for excellent rider comfort. The passenger seat features a small lip at the rear of the seat providing a secure feeling for the passenger.

51w /55w high efficiency Irradiation headlight. This is a 2 bulb design, one for low beam and one for high beam. The unique headlight body compliments the “neo-streamline” styling.

Steel fenders front and rear can be easily customized or painted to suit personal preferences. The front fender features a classic fender stay.

Flangeless teardrop style fuel tank offers 14 liters of capacity. This is the first flangeless tank used on a Yamaha cruiser. There are no welds visible, providing that custom look. The total fuel capacity is 17 liters thanks to a 3 liter sub tank located low in the frame below the seat. A high pressure electric fuel pump with quick connect fittings provide fuel to the EFI system.

Large 1.25″ diameter handlebars. All electrical wires are hidden inside the handle bars for that clean custom look. Selected meter functions can be controlled by buttons on the back of RHS switch.

Fuel tank mounted instrument panel. This panel has the classic “grand father” clock image. Just below the large analogue speedo is an analogue tach and fuel gauge. Other functions include digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel reserve trip counter and clock. Background illumination can be adjusted to suit personal preferences.

Super quick detachable windshield can be removed without tools. The new Stratoliner is a true “convertible” similar to the Royal Star Tour Deluxe. The windshield locks into place with the ignition key for added security.

Super quick detachable chromed passenger backrest can be removed in seconds without tools. The backrest locks into place with the ignition key for added security.

Beautifully styled, semi hard reinforced leather saddlebags provide ample storage for causal weekend tours.

Teardrop shaped rider floorboards with floating rubber inserts that reduce vibration.

Extra wide, chromed brake and clutch levers provide that quality feel and look.

Industry-leading, Star Family fit and finish creates a machine as stunning as it is powerful.

2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 C.E. Canadian Edition

2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 C.E. Canadian Edition

Confidence, agility, performance… maximum excitement for maximum fun.

The engineers at Yamaha had 2 main goals for the new 2008 Yamaha R6. To be the most exciting bike to race on the track and to be the most fun sport bike to ride on a winding road. Even at full lean, the new 2008 Yamaha R6 allows the rider to dial up the throttle and sling shot out of a corner. Confidence, agility, performance and fun.

Cutting edge champion – Almost anywhere you look on the 2008 R6 you’ll find something new, including YCC-I, Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake. It’s bristling with loads of refinements and knowledge gained from years of racing. You can confidently say the YZF-R6 C.E. Canadian Edition is the most advanced production 600cc motorcycle Yamaha – or anybody else – has ever built.

Yamaha has re-invented the all new 2008 R6 with a showcase of Yamaha’s latest sport bike technologies.

From the YCC-T fly by wire throttle to the MotoGP inspired straight frame design, to Yamaha’s exclusive electronically variable intake stacks, this new R6 featuring a new engine and frame is designed to take super sport riding to a whole new level.

FEATURES:

Revised ultra-compact, lightweight, short stroke, 599cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder with lightweight titanium valves produces incredible horsepower for a 600cc engine. Redline is set at an amazing 16,000rpm.

The compression ratio has been increased from 12.8:1 to 13.1:1.

67mm bore and 42.5mm stroke provide a fast revving powerplant. Engine width is minimized thanks to Yamaha’s special casting technologies and “liner less” cylinder design.

Compact “pent roof” cylinder head design features ultra lightweight titanium valves for both intake and exhaust. The intake valve angle is 11.5 degrees and the exhaust is 12.25 degress. The intake valves are 27mm in diameter while the exhaust valves are 23mm.

Single intake valve springs reduce weight and “friction” for optimum high rpm performance. The valve spring material for both the intake and exhaust has been revised to accomodate the increased power. The valve retainers are made of lightweight aluminum.

High flow intake and exhaust ports allow more fuel in and more exhaust out for great power delivery at all rpms.

Lightweight magnesium cylinder head cover and case covers reduce weight.

Separate cylinder block (the cylinder is no longer part of the upper crankcase) design utilizes ceramic composite plated “liner less” cylinder bores. The ceramic coating is sprayed directly on the aluminum block. The benefits are greater heat dissipation for consistent power delivery, reduced frictional power loss, reduced oil consumption and since there are no heavy liners, reduced weight too.

Revised lightweight forged pistons feature thin top rings for great high rpm power. The pistons are secured by lightweight tapered type piston pins. The lightweight design means fast engine response.

Revised lightweight crankshaft features 31mm bearing journals. The inertial crank mass has been optimized for excellent throttle response and impressive acceleration. The crank journal bearings feature new design oil holes that increase the supply of oil.

The connecting rod bearing width has been increased by 1mm while the rod cap has been revised to match.

Revised high lift / high performance, hollow, side-driven camshafts provide arm stretching power and strong acceleration. For 2008 the exhaust camshaft event angle has been changed from 109 to 110 degrees. The profile and lift remains the same as 2007.

The cam timing and overlap for both the intake and exhaust cams has been changed for improved engine performance.

Revised cam chain now uses a special “Vanadium carbide treatment on the pins. For durability.

Revised semi-hydraulic type cam chain tensioner reduces mechanical noise and maintenance. The “slider” that the cam chain pushes against has been changed to match the increased engine output.

Mikuni fuel injection system with 41mm throttle bodies features twin injectors (primary & secondary). This type of twin injector system is also found on our MotoGP M1 machine. Each of the injectors utilizes 12 spray holes to maximize the atomization process. The secondary injectors, located inside the airbox, begin to function at mid rpms (6,000 to 7,000rpm) thru to redline. This system is lighter and simpler than the sub motor driven secondary valve type FI system. Special short intake tracts allow for higher rpms and improved power.

The revised F.I. system features a new separate TPS (throttle position sensor) and APS (accelerator position sensor) sensors.

Yamaha Chip Control Throttle (YCC-T) is another 1st for Yamaha. This system electronically controls the throttle for outstanding response and improved controllability at high rpms. The system features Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and D.C. motor driven throttle valves. The YCC-T system electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved controllability at all rpms. The YCC-T is used to provide even more control of the intake air volume for a smoother torque character. The YCC-T features 3 – ECU’s inside the main ECU to control ignition, fuel injection and the YCC-T. This special ECU is capable of responding to changes at a speed of 1000th of a second.

All new YCC-I or Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Intake means the intake funnels / stacks vary in length based on engine rpmand throttle position. At low to mid rpms the funnels are set at 140mm and as the rpm increases, the funnels move to their shorter position (65mm) via an electric-control servo motor to provide maximum horsepower, torque and throttle response at all rpms. The range of movement is from 140mm to 65mm. The all new YCC-I provides the best of both worlds …solid low rpm performance with amazing high rpm power. YCC-I ensures that the intake tracts are “tuned” to the ideal length for the prevailing engine rpm. It takes 0.3 of a second for the funnels to move from the high position to the low position.

Revised 7.6 litre air box uses a viscous type air filter. The airbox mounting method is changed.

Ram Air Induction System with centrally located intake duct delivers cool, high-pressure air “force-fed” into the intake tract for optimal combustion and greater horsepower at higher speeds. This design provides straight induction from the central fairing duct to the airbox without a lot of bends or turns.

Close ratio 6-speed transmission delivers seamless power delivery and maximum acceleration. Gear widths, splines and engagement dogs have been optimized to handle the increased power. The shift drum and shifting mechanism are located on the right side of the cases for smooth shifting feel under power. The gears use flat contact-type engagement dogs for positive shifting and increased durability.

The “Tri-Axis” or stacked transmission design creates a more compact engine front to back that allows for optimum engine placement in the “sweet spot” of the frame for optimized balanced weight distribution and incredible handling.

Slipper or back limiter clutch assembly reduces rear wheel hop when making hard down shifts or under hard braking. Key benefit is reduced lap times and smoother control when participating in either a race or track day. This clutch uses 9 paper based friction plates and 8 steel plates, plus 6 coil-type clutch springs.

The oil lubrication system has been optimized to reduce frictional loses caused by “oil drag”. It features a “two side” oil pump. There is a separate liquid-cooled oil cooler to insure consistent engine temperatures for maximum performance and extended service life.

High capacity cooling system features a curved radiator with dual ring-type fans for excellent engine cooling efficiency. The ring-type fan offers more airflow than a conventional type fan.

Direct ignition coils, iridium dual electrode spark plugs and high-output magneto deliver reliable, super strong spark. With this system, the ignition coils are integrated into the plug caps, significantly reducing weight.

4-into-2-into-1 exhaust maximizes engine performance. There are three, 3-way honeycomb catalyziers with an oxygen sensor in the system to reduce harmful HC & CO exhaust emissions. The oxygen sensor provides feedback to the ECU so it can adjust for the optimum fuel/air mixture. A “mid ship” MotoGP style, lightweight titanium muffler is located below the engine to central mass and lower the center of gravity.

The exhaust system also features Yamaha’s EXUP System (Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve) utilizing a titanium body and butterfly valves that prevent the “blow back” phenomenon caused by “valve overlap”. This design reduces weight and maximizes cornering clearance. The EXUP system eliminates “flat spots” in the power band and reduces emissions too. This is a 1st on a 600cc supersport machine.

High powered 32 bit electronic control unit actually contains three ECUs inside the main ECU to control the FI system, the YCC-T system and the ignition system.

Air Injection System (AIS) injects fresh air into the exhaust ports to fully burn any unburnt fuel in order to reduce harmful CO & HC exhaust emissions

New compact, lightweight aluminum Deltabox frame offers an optimized total rigidity balance for incredibly light and agile handling. This frame is a MotoGP inspired innovation that Yamaha calls a “straight frame concept”. This means the top spars of the frame lie as close to possible to the frame’s torsional axis (the line connecting the head pipe to the swingarm pivot point). The ram air duct passes through the frame at the head pipe for a straight ram air effect too. A mix of revised mold castings and pressed aluminum plates make up the frame. The engine is a fully stressed chassis member allowing for a super-light frame design. Although the frame may look similar to the 2007 version, the outer panel shape has been changed, the front cross member has been eliminated, and the overall rigidity balance is improved for even more precise and agile handling.

New, detachable magnesium rear subframe reduces weight. The detachable design allows rear shock access and is less costly if the unit is “looped out”.

Revised lightweight, aluminium “gull wing” type swingarm uses a mix of castings and pressed plates for optimum rigidity. The swingarm pivot area has been modified for increased rigidity. The swingarm pivot position has also been optimized to reduce the “squat” tendencies caused by drive chain reaction to hard throttle openings.

Key chassis geometry figures include: 1380mm wheelbase, 24 degree caster angle, 97mm of trail and a 52.5% front and 47.5% rear weight balance. The maximum lean angle is a knee scraping 57 degrees.

The riding position has been changed for 2008. The seat is 5mm further forward than in ’07.

Revised fully adjustable 41mm inverted front fork provides 120mm (4.7″) of wheel travel and offers incredible suspension performance with ultra-precise feedback. The outer tubes of the fork have been optimized. Adjustments include: spring preload, 4-way high speed compression damping, 20-way low speed compression damping and 25-way rebound damping. The inverted design not only reduces unsprung weight but also increases the rigidity of the fork. The range of adjustments allows the rider to tune suspension to match riding style and conditions.

2008 Yamaha YZF-R1

The 2-Wheeled embodiedment of Yamaha’s most advanced technology.

The cutting edge for sport bikes doesn’t get any sharper. The 2008 R1, a showcase for Yamahas most advanced sport bike technology. With MotoGP inspired features like chip controlled throttle and electronically variable intake funnels, the R1 provides a level of riding excitement, confidence and control never before experienced.

The R1 features more ground breaking technology than ever seen before.

From chip controlled throttle and electronic variable intake funnels, to the advanced Deltabox V frame design, Yamaha strives to offer experienced riders a whole new level of exhilaration and riding excitement. Despite serious power, the R1 is more obedient and more civilized than ever before.

FEATURES:

Ultra-lightweight, compact, 998cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, 40 degree inclined, in-line four-cylinder engine produces incredible horsepower.

The 4-valve cylinder head design features a compact combustion chamber that utilizes lightweight, trick titanium valves on the intake side. The 4-valve design maximizes breathing efficiency and overall engine performance. This design also achieves cleaner emissions too. The titanium intake valves are 33mm in diameter while the steel exhaust valves are 27mm in diameter. Lightweight yet super strong VX alloy valve springs controlled valve movement.

Steep valve angles, 11.5 degrees on the intake side and 12.5 degrees on the exhaust produce a more compact combustion chamber.

The lightweight titanium intake valves reduce the reciprocating weight of the intake valves allowing for higher rpms without the concern of valve float. The use of lightweight “Ti” valves has allowed the engineers at Yamaha to use a 4-valve format. In the past, the use of 5 smaller valves allowed a higher rpm limit since each of the “smaller” valves was relatively light. The use of light weight high tech titanium now means the engineers no longer have to use the 5-valve design to achieve the same high rpms. Yamaha will not abandon the 5-valve format on YZ models … it has its own advantages such as a less tall cylinder head design (lower center of gravity) since the actual valve “lift” can be reduced with 5-valves.

Short design valve guides provide a less restrictive flow of fuel / air flow into the combustion chamber for improved power output.

Computer optimized smooth intake ports increased intake air volume for increased power output.

Squish area has been optimized for maximum engine performance. The compression ratio is 12.7:1.

Lightweight, high lift, high performance intake and exhaust cams help to provide incredible horsepower and fast engine response.

Automatic cam chain tensioner reduces both maintenance and engine mechanical noise.

Short skirt, lightweight forged pistons feature 4 valve “pockets” to special ribs in the piston pin area add rigidity for great reliability.

Connecting rods are carburized and use a nutless design. The lower end “cap” of the rod is made from the same piece of material as the upper portion; this design is known as “fracture splitting”. This design aids establishing true big end roundness and greater precision in con rod dimensions.

Closed deck cylinder design allows the cylinders to be spaced more closely together, allowing a narrower engine, since there are no coolant passages in the cylinder body.

The cylinder block is a stand-alone piece; the benefit is improved sealing, and easier serviceability.

Ceramic composite cylinder “bores” are a “liner less” design with the ceramic coating sprayed directly on the aluminum block to ensure uniform heat dissipation for consistent power delivery, reduced oil consumption, reduced friction and reduced weight.

Lightweight revised crankshaft provides super quick engine response. The surface treatment of the crank is high frequency quench type.

The ACM or alternator is located on the backside of the cylinder block to reduce crankcase width. The compact ACM uses rare earth magnets and spins at 1.24 times the engine rpm to produce lots of electrical output.

Narrow, compact crankcases allow for maximum lean angles.

Mikuni fuel injection system uses 45mm throttle bodies fitted with T.P.S. (Throttle Position Sensor). The secondary motor-driven sub valves have been eliminated from the throttle bodies due to the addition of the YCC-T. An oxygen sensor has been fitted into the exhaust making this a “closed loop” type FI system. The benefits include excellent throttle response, great fuel economy, reduced emissions, stable idling and no choke to fuss with during start up.

The actual injectors are Denso “long nose” type injectors with a high dynamic range and 12-spray holes for improved power and response across the entire rev range.

The fuel injection’s lightweight Electronic Control Unit (ECU) utilizes a powerful 32-bit processor for fast control of the injection process. The compact design also reduces weight.

YCC-I or Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Intake means the intake funnels / stacks vary in length depending on engine rpms and throttle opening. At low to mid rpms the funnels are longer and as the rpms increase, the funnels reduce in length via an electric-control servo motor to provide maximum horsepower, torque and throttle response at all rpms. The range of movement is from 65mm to 140mm. The YCC-I provides the best of both worlds …solid low rpm performance with amazing high rpm power. YCC-I ensures that the intake tracts are always “tuned” to the ideal length for the prevailing engine rpm. It takes 0.3 of a second for the funnels to move from the highest to the lowest position.

The YCC-I electric-control servo motor-driven variable intake funnel system is a world’s 1st on a production motorcycle.

Yamaha Chip Control Throttle (YCC-T) electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved controllability at all rpms. The YCC-T is used to provide even more control of the intake air volume for smoother torque character. Similar to the R6 design, the YCC-T features 3 – ECU’s inside the main ECU to control ignition, fuel injection and the YCC-T. This special ECU is capable of responding to changes at a speed of 1000th of a second.

The rider can “mechanically close” the throttles by simply closing the throttle twist grip.

Twin electrode NGK CR9EK spark plugs.

Compact close-ratio 6-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for maximum performance. The “stacked” 3-axis gearbox / clutch design stacks input/output shafts to create a low center of gravity and keeps overall engine size shorter front to back. As a result, the stacked design gives the engineers the freedom to place the engine in the “sweet spot” of the frame for optimum weight balance for awesome handling.

The all new slipper or back limiter clutch assembly reduces rear wheel hop when making hard down shifts or under hard braking. Key benefit is reduced lap times and smoother control when riding aggressively during a race or track day.

A multi plate clutch is used, utilizing coil springs and paper based fiber plates.

High capacity water pump features a plastic impeller.

“Ram Air” system “force feeds” cool air via dual ducts located below the headlights into the intake system. As speed increases the air velocity in the system increases and pressurizes the air box. This “force fed” air helps the engine develop maximum high rpm power.

7.3 liter air box maximizes performance. A viscous type air filter is utilized.

4 into 2 into 1 into 2 titanium exhaust system maximizes power output, reduces weight and improves aerodynamics. The dual under seat mufflers provide an aggressive sound as well as a great styling highlight. This system contains two 3-way catalyziers and an oxygen sensor (note: the catalyst tube is made of stainless steel). The catalytic converters reduces harmful CO and HC exhaust emissions while the oxygen sensor provides feedback to the ECU to maintain optimum fuel/air mixture at all times.

EXUP System (Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve) utilizes dual titanium butterfly valves that prevent the “blow back” phenomenon caused by “valve overlap”. This design reduces weight and maximizes cornering clearance. The EXUP system eliminates “flat spots” in the power band and reduces emissions too.

Compact, high-efficiency curved radiator features dual ring-type fans for maximum cooling efficiency. This curved rad and twin fan design produces more airflow than conventional flat designs to maintain optimum engine temperatures for consistent power output.

Large liquid-cooled oil cooler maintains stable lubricant temperatures for extended engine life. Convenient cartridge style spin-off oil filter.

Convenient clutch cover sightglass ensures easy oil level inspection.

High performance direct ignition coils (ignition coil is built into the spark plug cap) reduce weight while iridium spark plugs and high-output magneto deliver increased spark energy.

Aluminum Deltabox V frame has been designed to offer an optimized rigidity balance to maximize handling performance. This frame is very rigid or stiff at the head pipe, engine mounts and swingarm pivot point. In other areas, material has been carefully removed to allow “tuned flex”. Finished in black, this frame boasts a compact 1415mm (55.7″) wheelbase. The swingarm pivot has been optimized to minimize the chain tension effect under hard acceleration, providing more stable handling. The engine is a fully stressed chassis member to maximize handling. Stability, a key to great handling, is unsurpassed while the ability to hold a line under hard acceleration is excellent.

Detachable aluminum sub frame means easier rear shock access and a less costly repair if the unit is “looped out”.

Extra-long, lightweight aluminum C.F. (controlled filling) die cast “truss-type” swingarm provides great torsional rigidity for class leading handling and maneuverability. The distance between the swingarm pivot and the rear axle has been optimized (597.2mm) for excellent “turn-in” abilities and rear wheel traction.

The Deltabox V chassis offers an incredible 56 degree lean angle.

Fork off set of 25mm both rigidity and handling.

Revised forged aluminum lower triple clamp features an increase in thickness from 35 to 40mm for increased rigidity.

Fully adjustable 43mm Kayaba inverted fork features 120mm (4.7″) of wheel travel. The thickness of the inner tube and the shape of the outer tube has been optimized. The size of the internal aluminum piston is 24mm damping performance, and the piston rod is lightweight aluminum. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and road /track conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance. There is 9-way spring preload adjustability plus 25-way compression damping and 26-way rebound damping adjustability.

Link Monocross rear suspension utilizes a fully adjustable piggyback-style rear shock. The shock spring rate has been increased, the internal piston has been modified to reduce friction and a 2-way (hi speed / low speed) compression adjuster is utilized. The rising or progressive rate is 14%. Adjustments include 9 steps of spring preload adjustability, 20-way high speed compression damping, 4 -way low speed compression damping and 20-way rebound damping adjustability. The reserve sub tank is mounted horizontally to accommodate the under seat exhaust. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and road /track conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance.

Steering damper is located under the upper triple clamp. Its special design is sensitive to the speed of the damper shaft, the faster the movement the more damping and the slower the movement the less damping.

Radial mount 6-piston calipers squeeze revised, fully floating 310mm dual front rotors. The result is incredible braking performance with excellent control and lever feedback.

Brembo radial pump master cylinder with 16mm piston is a direct GP race innovation. The lever is adjustable for various hand sizes.

Single piston (aluminum) slide-type Nissin rear caliper squeezes a lightweight 220mm rotor.

Rugged yet lightweight 5-spoke mag wheels front and rear. The wheels utilize hollow “spokes” to reduce unsprung weight for superior handling. Front rim size is a MT3.50 x 17 while the rear is MT6.00 x17.

Fuel tank design provides excellent knee grip for hard braking and great rider maneuverability. The capacity is 18 liters with a 3.4 liter reserve.

Immobilizer ignition system is designed to reduce the possibility of “ride away” theft. This system must recognize the “coded ignition key” in order for the unit to start. If the immobolizer ignition does not recognize the key (or a theft’s screwdriver or other type of “jimmy tool”) the bike will not start even if the ignition is turned or forced into the on position. If the system does not recognize the coded chip in the ignition key, it will not allow the ignition system or starter motor to function.

Race inspired fairing improves both aerodynamics and style. The fairing features a slant nose front profile for aerodynamic streamlining, with engine revealing side cut outs.

Windshield features a “screw less” design for a cleaner, more trick appearance.

Race inspired lightweight instrumentation includes a digital speedo, analog tachometer, dual tripmeters, clock, and fuel trip meter. The console also features adjustable back lighting, adjustable shift light and a low fuel warning light. Other key features include an integrated stop watch or lap timer with split time mode and an air intake temperature display. Torque Sports.

Sports Torque is a unique kind of motorcycling experience, and the MT-O1 is one of the finest examples of this new breed. Torque Sports performance opens up a new world of sports riding because it offers an alternative to high rpm rush to today’s in-line four cylinder supersport bikes. Grab a handful of throttle and discover the arm stretching torque that flows from the MT-01’s massive V-Twin powerplant.

The MT-01 is the bike that started the Torque Sports revolution.

Maximum torque is unleashed at a mere 3750 rpms. The MT-01’s soul stirring torque is guaranteed to put a smile on your face while the agile sports chassis offers its rider all the exhilaration of a supersport machine. At Yamaha we recognize that as many sport riders mature, they often seek a slightly less extreme alternative. If you are ready to take the next step in sports riding, you owe it to yourself to check out the revolutionary 2008 MT-01.

FEATURES:

High-performance, 1670cc air-cooled, long-stroke, OHV, 4 valves per cylinder, 48°, V-twin powerplant produces massive torque and strong acceleration for an emotionally charged ride.

Traditional pushrod valve actuation keeps engine height down for a lower centre of gravity for great handling and ensures more uniform heat dissipation due to absence of a cam chain case.

One-piece head cover adds rigidity around the rocker arms to provide great high rpm performance and efficient heat dissipation.

Four-valve, pent roof cylinder head design uses two spark plugs per cylinder for efficient combustion and great power delivery at all rpms.

Valve train includes short design intake and exhaust rocker arms that reduce inertia during high-rpm performance.

Twin, crankcase-mounted, high-lift cams ensure strong acceleration and horsepower. The cam profiles and timing are specially designed for the MT-01

Hydraulic valve lifters driven by twin camshafts deliver exceptional performance and lower maintenance requirements.

Crankshaft and connecting rod design is unique to the MT-01. Inertia mass is reduced 18% and weight is reduced by 10% compared to the Warrior crank. The crank flywheel shapes are also different.

Large-diameter pistons feature durable and lightweight forged construction to accommodate higher-rpm performance with reduced vibration and less reciprocating mass.

Larger-bore ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation, reduce weight, reduce friction and increase cylinder service life.

Cooling fin thickness is optimized for maximum heat dissipation, thereby eliminating the need for liquid cooling, maintaining that traditional clean, air-cooled engine appearance. Special lower mounted aluminum air duct directs air toward the cylinders for additional cooling

2008 Yamaha FJR1300AE

2008 Yamaha FJR1300AE

We put the convenience in Sport Touring

The FJR1300 has a reputation as one of the world’s great sport touring motorcycles. The “AE” designation puts and interesting spin on an incredible bike. The YCC-S system with its auto clutch and convenient hand operated electric shifting has revolutionized Sport Touring. Betcha most riders own an automatic car…. hummm.

YCC-S … four letters that have revolutionized the Sport Touring segment.

Last year the engineers at Yamaha focused their attention on improving rider comfort with revised bodywork, improved air management and a unified braking system. For 2008, the FJR auto clutch sports a new ABS System, revised windshield and changes to the transmission and auto clutch for even smoother shifting. Performance, comfort, and convenience. Sport Touring has never been so effortless.

FEATURES:

1298cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled in-line four engine delivers massive power and torque (145 hp @ 8500 rpm and 99.1 ft-lbs of torque @ 6000 rpm) for an unequaled spread of muscle over a wide RPM range. Red line is a low 9,000 rpm for extended engine life.

State-of-the-art engine uses advanced technology found on the legendary R1 such as a slant block design, stacked “Tri-Axis” transmission, fuel injection etc.

One-piece cylinder and upper crankcase assembly provides tremendous engine rigidity that’s lighter and stiffer than two-piece designs.

Engine is a fully stressed chassis member, allowing for a lightweight frame design.

Lightweight forged pistons with carburized connecting rods provide superb strength and reduced reciprocating mass for outstanding engine response and durability.

Revised 3rd and 4th pinion gears feature an additional engagement dog for improved shifting feeling

Yamaha Chip Controlled shifting (YCC-S) is an industry first on a sport touring machine. The most noticeable difference is the lack of a clutch lever on the FJR1300AE. The YCC-S system uses two electronically controlled actuators … one for the clutch and one for shifting. The rider has the option of shifting with via a conveniently located handlebar switch or using the conventional foot shifter. The big difference is there is no clutching involved. Shift changes are smoother than a conventional manual clutch system and the foot shifter effort has been reduced with this system. The benefit is improved rider comfort due to the elimination of clutch hand fatigue especially in stop and go traffic plus reduced foot shifter effort. NOTE: This system is not an automatic shift system … the rider still must shift the bike, but without worrying about the clutch.

Revised clutch boss shape and increased oil supply to the clutch for improved feeling at the engagement point.

Revised YCC-S hand shift lever shape. The up shift YCC-S hand shift lever has a revised shape for improved shifting feel.

Special scissors-type primary driven gear helps prevent drivetrain backlash and significantly reduces transmission noise for great rider comfort.

2007 Yamaha YZF-R1

The new R1 features more ground breaking technology than ever seen before.

From chip controlled throttle and electronic variable intake funnels, to the new more advanced Deltabox V frame design, Yamaha strives to offer experienced riders a whole new level of exhilaration and riding excitement. Despite an increase in power, the new ’07 R1 is more obedient and more civilized than ever before.

FEATURES:

• New ultra-lightweight, compact, 998cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, 40 degree inclined, in-line four-cylinder engine produces incredible horsepower.

• The new 4-valve cylinder head design features a new more compact combustion chamber that utilizes lightweight, trick titanium valves on the intake side.

• Steep valve angles, 11.5 degrees on the intake side and 12.5 degrees on the exhaust produce a more compact combustion chamber.

• The lightweight titanium intake valves reduce the reciprocating weight of the intake valves allowing for higher rpms without the concern of valve float.

• Revised, short design valve guides provide a less restrictive flow of fuel / air flow into the combustion chamber for improved power output. The diameter of the guides match the new valve stem diameters (5mm for the intake & 4.5mm for the exhaust)

• Computer optimized smooth intake ports increased intake air volume for increased power output.

• Squish area has been optimized for maximum engine performance. The compression ratio is now 12.7:1. Bore and stroke remains the same as the previous model.

• All new, lightweight, high lift, high performance intake and exhaust cams help to provide incredible horsepower and fast engine response. The larger diameter hollow camshafts (+2 mm) feature greater valve lift and new valve timing for increased power.

• Automatic cam chain tensioner reduces both maintenance and engine mechanical noise.

• New short skirt, lightweight forged pistons feature 4 valve “pockets” (instead of 5) to match the change to the new 4-valve head design. Special ribs in the piston pin area add rigidity for great reliability.

• Revised connecting rods are carburized and use a nutless design. The lower end “cap” of the rod is made from the same piece of material as the upper portion; this design is known as “fracture splitting”. This design aids establishing true big end roundness and greater precision in con rod dimensions. The upper “shoulder area” of the con rods has been revised for added strength.

• Closed deck cylinder design allows the cylinders to be spaced more closely together, allowing a narrower engine, since there are no coolant passages in the cylinder body.

• The cylinder block is a stand-alone piece; the benefit is improved sealing, and easier serviceability.

• Ceramic composite cylinder “bores” are a “liner less” design with the ceramic coating sprayed directly on the aluminum block to ensure uniform heat dissipation for consistent power delivery, reduced oil consumption, reduced friction and reduced weight.

• Lightweight revised crankshaft provides super quick engine response. The surface treatment of the crank is high frequency quench type.

• The ACM or alternator is located on the backside of the cylinder block to reduce crankcase width. The compact ACM uses rare earth magnets and spins at 1.24 times the engine rpm to produce lots of electrical output.

• Narrow, compact crankcases allow for maximum lean angles.

• Revised Mikuni fuel injection system uses 45mm throttle bodies fitted with T.P.S.

• The actual injectors are Denso “long nose” type injectors with a high dynamic range and 12-spray holes for improved power and response across the entire rev range.

• The fuel injection’s lightweight Electronic Control Unit (ECU) utilizes a powerful 32-bit processor for fast control of the injection process. The compact design also reduces weight.

• All new YCC-I or Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Intake means the intake funnels / stacks vary in length depending on engine rpms and throttle opening. At low to mid rpms the funnels are longer and as the rpms increase, the funnels reduce in length via an electric-control servo motor to provide maximum horsepower, torque and throttle response at all rpms. The range of movement is from 65mm to 140mm. The all new YCC-I provides the best of both worlds …solid low rpm performance with amazing high rpm power. YCC-I ensures that the intake tracts are always “tuned” to the ideal length for the prevailing engine rpm. It takes 0.3 of a second for the funnels to move from the highest to the lowest position.

• The new YCC-I electric-control servo motor-driven variable intake funnel system is a world’s 1st on a production motorcycle.

• Yamaha Chip Control Throttle (YCC-T) is now fitted to the 2007 R1. This system electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved controllability at all rpms.

• The rider can “mechanically close” the throttles by simply closing the throttle twist grip.

• Twin electrode NGK CR9EK spark plugs.

• Revised compact close-ratio 6-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for maximum performance. The revised “stacked” 3-axis gearbox / clutch design stacks input/output shafts to create a low center of gravity and keeps overall engine size shorter front to back. As a result, the stacked design gives the engineers the freedom to place the engine in the “sweet spot” of the frame for optimum weight balance for awesome handling.

• The revised transmission features a longer main axle to accommodate the new slipper or back torque limiter clutch.

• The all new slipper or back limiter clutch assembly reduces rear wheel hop when making hard down shifts or under hard braking. Key benefit is reduced lap times and smoother control when riding aggressively during a race or track day.

• A multi plate clutch is used, utilizing coil springs and paper based fiber plates.

• Revised high capacity water pump features a new plastic impeller.

• “Ram Air” system “force feeds” cool air via dual ducts located below the headlights into the intake system. As speed increases the air velocity in the system increases and pressurizes the air box. This “force fed” air helps the engine develop maximum high rpm power. For 2007 the ram air ducts have increased in size to allow more air to enter the system at high speed.

• Newly designed 7.3 liter air box maximizes performance. A viscous type air filter is utilized.

• New 4 into 2 into 1 into 2 titanium exhaust system maximizes power output, reduces weight and improves aerodynamics. The dual under seat mufflers have been revised to improve power and looks. This new exhaust system provides an aggressive sound as well as a great styling highlight. This revised system contains two 3-way catalyziers and an oxygen sensor (note: the catalyst tube is made of stainless steel). The catalytic converters reduces harmful CO and HC exhaust emissions while the oxygen sensor provides feedback to the ECU to maintain optimum fuel/air mixture at all times.

• EXUP System (Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve) utilizes dual titanium butterfly valves that prevent the “blow back” phenomenon caused by “valve overlap”. This design reduces weight and maximizes cornering clearance. The EXUP system eliminates “flat spots” in the power band and reduces emissions too.

• Revised, compact, high-efficiency curved radiator features dual ring-type fans for maximum cooling efficiency. The cooling fins are more closely spaced, thereby improving heat dissipation Vs the ’06 version. This curved rad and twin fan design produces more airflow than conventional flat designs to maintain optimum engine temperatures for consistent power output.

• Large liquid-cooled oil cooler maintains stable lubricant temperatures for extended engine life. Convenient cartridge style spin-off oil filter.

• Convenient clutch cover sightglass ensures easy oil level inspection.

• Revised high performance direct ignition coils (ignition coil is built into the spark plug cap) reduce weight while iridium spark plugs and high-output magneto deliver increased spark energy.

• Revised aluminum Deltabox V frame has been re-designed to offer an optimized rigidity balance to maximize handling performance. This new frame (it may look the same as the old frame but don’t be fooled … it is significantly different) is very rigid or stiff at the head pipe, engine mounts and swingarm pivot point. In other areas, material has been carefully removed to allow “tuned flex”. Finished in black, this frame boasts a compact 1415mm (55.7″) wheelbase. The revised frame features the elimination of the front cross member and the addition of reinforcing ribs on the front to mid area of the main spars. The swingarm pivot has been raised by 3mm to minimize the chain tension effect under hard acceleration, providing more stable handling. The engine is a fully stressed chassis member to maximize handling. Stability, a key to great handling, is unsurpassed while the ability to hold a line under hard acceleration is excellent.

• Detachable aluminum sub frame means easier rear shock access and a less costly repair if the unit is “looped out”.

• New extra-long, lightweight aluminum C.F. (controlled filling) die cast “truss-type” swingarm provides great torsional rigidity for class leading handling and maneuverability. The distance between the swingarm pivot and the rear axle has been lengthened to 597.2mm for improved “turn-in” abilities and rear wheel traction. The torsional rigidity of this new swingarm is increased by 30%

• The Deltabox V chassis offers an incredible 56 degree lean angle.

• Revised fork off set has been reduced from 30mm to 25mm for 2007. The change improves both rigidity and handling.

• Revised forged aluminum lower triple clamp features an increase in thickness from 35 to 40mm for increased rigidity.

• Revised fully adjustable 43mm Kayaba inverted fork features 120mm (4.7″) of wheel travel. The thickness of the inner tube and the shape of the outer tube has been optimized. The size of the new, internal aluminum piston is now 24mm up from 20mm for improved damping performance, and the piston rod is now lightweight aluminum. The axle bracket has also been changed to accommodate the new 6-piston calipers. The spring rate has been revised too. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and road /track conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance. There is 9-way spring preload adjustability plus 25-way compression damping and 26-way rebound damping adjustability.

• Revised link Monocross rear suspension utilizes a fully adjustable piggyback-style rear shock. The shock spring rate has been increased, the internal piston has been modified to reduce friction and a 2-way (hi speed / low speed) compression adjuster has been added. The rising or progressive rate has been revised from 8% to 14% increasing the progressive function.

• Steering damper is located under the upper triple clamp. Its special design is sensitive to the speed of the damper shaft, the faster the movement the more damping and the slower the movement the less damping.

• All new radial mount 6-piston calipers squeeze revised, fully floating 310mm dual front rotors. Seperate pads are used for each piston. The result is incredible braking performance with excellent control and lever feedback.

• Brembo radial pump master cylinder with 16mm piston is a direct GP race innovation. The lever is adjustable for various hand sizes.

• Single piston (aluminum) slide-type Nissin rear caliper squeezes a lightweight 220mm rotor.

• Rugged yet lightweight 5-spoke mag wheels front and rear. The wheels utilize hollow “spokes” to reduce unsprung weight for superior handling. Front rim size is a MT3.50 x 17 while the rear is MT6.00 x17.

• Fuel tank design provides excellent knee grip for hard braking and great rider maneuverability. The capacity is 18 liters with a 3.4 liter reserve.

• Immobilizer ignition system is designed to reduce the possibility of “ride away” theft.

• New race inspired fairing improves both aerodynamics and style. The new fairing bodywork features a slant nose front profile for aerodynamic streamlining, with engine revealing side cut outs. Ram air duct sizes have also been increased.

• Revised windshield is 10mm taller than in ’06 and now features a “screw less” design for a cleaner, more trick appearance.

• Revised race inspired lightweight instrumentation includes a digital speedo, analog tachometer, dual tripmeters, clock, and fuel trip meter. The console also features adjustable back lighting, adjustable shift light and a low fuel warning light. Other key features include an integrated stop watch or lap timer with split time mode and an air intake temperature display. The lap timer is controlled by the starter switch button for added convenience and ease of use

• Dual 55-watt projector (low beam) and dual multi-reflector (high beam) headlights feature a sleek, cat-eye profile for superb aerodynamics, unique styling and excellent visibility. Both headlights light on low beam and all four headlights light on high beam.

• Revised LED taillight reduces weight and power consumption while providing a brilliant eye catching light. The lens is white while the LEDs are red. The shape has been modified for improved styling.

• The seating position offers a very sporty yet comfortable riding position. The seat has been revised for improved comfort.

• Lightweight forged footpegs.

• Extensive use of hollow bolts and lightweight fasteners help trim overall weight.

• Heavy-duty #530 O-ring drive chain.

• Low maintenance, lightweight, sealed battery.

• Convenient fold out under seat bungee cord straps.

The YZF-R1 offers a significant level of power and performance. It is not intended for novice or inexperienced riders.
